Nissan RB26DETT

The RB26DETT is the 2.6-litre twin-turbo straight-six from the R32–R34 Skyline GT-R, and it is probably the most-modelled tuning engine in the world. Its 86 mm bore with a short 73.7 mm stroke gives an oversquare layout that likes revs, and the 8.5:1 static compression leaves deliberate headroom for boost — which is exactly what makes it interesting to simulate rather than guess at. Load the preset and the calculator runs the full thermodynamic cycle for one cylinder: compression, combustion, expansion and gas exchange, with the valve-timing and port-area figures the preset carries. The result is a P-V diagram, indicated and effective power, BMEP, and the inertial and gas forces the crank train actually sees.

Preset parameters

Values below are the preset the calculator loads — you can change every one of them in the form. Angles are absolute crank angle (CA) on a 0–720° cycle.

Notes for modelling

  • Boost enters through the intake pressure (pik) field — raise it to model a higher-boost build and watch peak cylinder pressure in the results.
  • Dropping compression for a big-turbo setup is a two-variable problem: lower CR alone loses part-throttle efficiency, so compare BSFC across runs, not just peak power.
  • The preset models a single cylinder; multiply the effective power by six for whole-engine output.
