Nissan KA24

The KA24 is the 2.4-litre four found in the 240SX and the Nissan trucks, and it is the cheap-entry drift engine precisely because of its geometry: an 89 mm bore with a long 96 mm stroke. That long stroke builds torque low down and limits useful rpm — the opposite trade from the SR20 it often gets swapped for. Simulating it makes the trade explicit rather than anecdotal. The preset carries the 9.5:1 compression ratio and the factory-style valve timing, and the calculator returns the P-V diagram, indicated and effective power, BMEP, BSFC and the crank-train loads.

Notes for modelling

  • Run the KA24 and SR20 presets side by side: the stroke difference shows up directly in the torque figure and in the inertial loads.
  • Long stroke means high piston speed — raising the rpm limit in the model has a steeper cost here than on an oversquare engine.
  • Peak cylinder pressure feeds the stress calculator if you want a rod check before boosting it.
