2DT two-stroke diesel
The 2DT is a two-stroke compression-ignition engine — an unusual combination among the presets, and a genuinely different modelling problem. A two-stroke diesel has no intake or exhaust valves in the conventional sense; gas exchange happens through ports during a short window around bottom dead centre, and scavenging quality dominates the whole cycle. At 110 mm bore by 130 mm stroke and 16:1 compression the preset sits between the automotive and the large industrial engines. It is the smallest two-stroke diesel here, and the clearest introduction to the architecture before the locomotive and marine presets.

Notes for modelling
- Scavenging type is a model input, not a detail — it determines how the gas-exchange phase is computed.
- A two-stroke fires every revolution, so compare the power figure per litre against the four-stroke diesels rather than in absolute terms.
